And since we have seen this issue right after starting the car, I don't feel I am at risk of an overheating situation. My thought is that its truly an indication issue and since the car is not getting a good temp indication it is simply going into a "protective" mode with the electric fans/A/C disable. Although, I don't feel it has anything to do with outside air temps. After the initial time this occurred a year ago, it didn't happen again through out the colder winter months but since have had it occur 2 or 3 times. Then while driving, it will just indicate normal operating temp, fans shut off, etc. To give you all an idea of how intermittent this is, it might happen while driving (temp gauge drops instantly to full cold) or it might happen after first cold start of the day, gauge never comes off full cold and electric fans are running/no A/C etc. Took the car to my local mechanic and of course he was not able reproduce the issue and was hesitant to simply replace the sensor without an error code or being able to reproduce the issue. I purchased a fairly reasonable engine temp senor but only to find its not an easily accessible part to replace. Also note there are no check engine lights or fault codes logged. Engine coolant temp gauge will not come off full cold indication and during this time the engine electric fans are running and air conditioning disabled/not working. This first occurred about a year ago and lasted a couple weeks (on and off). Hoping someone else might have experienced this in the past and can help point me in the right direction and maybe confirm my thoughts. The issue I have been dealing with is related to my 2016 and an intermittent engine temp issue. I have 2 Camaros, the first is a 1982 Z28 that my wife and I have had since 1986.
